Named for the Mercer family of Seattle and nestled in Lake Washington, Business Insider recently ranked Mercer Island as one of America’s Top 50 suburbs. It’s no wonder, since Mercer Island features a beautiful shoreline, several public parks and a charming downtown area—yet is only 5 minutes from either downtown Bellevue or Seattle.
Mercer Island’s downtown district, known as Town Center, is the Island’s dynamic, ever-changing commercial hub. It is also a favorite spot for Mercer Island residents, whether to enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, to participate in a fitness class, or to shop at the local home decor or book store. Town Center also features several boutiques, grocery shopping (at New Seasons Market and Freshy’s Local Market) and coffee shops (yes, there are Starbucks) – no shortage of places for Mercer Island visitors, residents and guests to gather.
In addition to the Town Center, Mercer Island features hundreds of acres of parks and wildlife areas – most notably Luther Burbank Park, home to a public boat dock and fishing pier, a swimming beach, an amphitheater, tennis courts, barbecues and picnic facilities, and the 113-acre Pioneer Park, which has equestrian, bicycle, and hiking trails, all of which contribute to Mercer Island’s reputation as a destination where the pace of life slows considerably.
Summer Celebration, Mercer Island’s only community-wide festival, is held annually on the second full weekend in July and boasts a new theme each year. An island-wide celebration that features a variety of events including parades, car rides, music entertainment, and children’s rides, the Mercer Island Summer Celebration draws crowds between 20,000 and 30,000 over the festival weekend, and always concludes with fireworks – a robust celebration of everything Mercer Island has to offer.
We are frequently designing outdoor lighting systems and installing outdoor lights to homeowners in this area. Here are a few we've done: Mid-Century Modern, Lake Washington Villa, and Groveland Estate.
