Transforming a Contemporary Home into a Warm, Inviting Haven in Suncadia's Wooded Landscape
Nestled in the serene Suncadia Resort, this contemporary home, designed by the renowned Olson Kundig, harmoniously blends modern architecture with the natural wooded landscape. The home’s extensive use of glass, including entire walls, offers breathtaking views from every room, making it a true masterpiece of design and functionality.
Our lighting design aimed to enhance this visual experience by creating a warm and inviting ambiance that complements the home's architectural beauty without overpowering the natural surroundings. The low ground cover to the towering trees each play a role in the enchanting nighttime scenery we crafted.
To illuminate the pathways, we installed unique rusted steel path bollards chosen by the homeowner. These custom fixtures cast evocative shadows along the walkway, adding an artistic touch to the landscape. Additionally, small, thoughtful touches like the light added to the dog’s fire hydrant area reflect our commitment to blending functionality with whimsy.
The pool and water feature on the property were also integral parts of our design. The surrounding landscape is brought to life with strategic uplighting, showcasing the lush greenery and tall trees that frame the property.
From the exterior stone walls to the detailed landscape lighting, every element has been carefully considered to ensure that this home shines brilliantly in the evening, offering a tranquil retreat that the homeowners and their guests can enjoy all year round.

Custom Handmade Bollards for Unique Outdoor Spaces
A distinctive feature of our Suncadia Resort project is the custom rusted steel path bollards chosen by the homeowner. These unique fixtures cast evocative shadows along the walkway, adding an artistic touch to the landscape. Although this particular bollard is no longer offered, Northwest Outdoor Lighting specializes in creating custom handmade bollards tailored to your specific needs and style preferences. These fixtures not only provide essential lighting for pathways and garden areas but also serve as stunning decorative elements that enhance the overall aesthetic of the landscape.
Illuminating Majestic Trees with Precision
A stunning feature of our Suncadia Resort project is the dramatic uplighting of the towering trees surrounding the contemporary Olson Kundig-designed home. Using strategically placed fixtures, we accentuated the height and grandeur of the majestic evergreens. The lighting not only showcases the natural beauty of these trees but also creates a seamless transition between the home and its wooded landscape. The warm glow from the uplights enhances the architectural elements of the property, while the carefully considered placement ensures the lighting is both functional and visually striking. This harmonious blend of natural and architectural lighting creates a breathtaking evening ambiance, perfect for enjoying the serene surroundings.
Artistic and Functional Entryway Lighting
One of the most striking features of our lighting design is the artistic and functional illumination of the entryway. When guests walk through the front door, they are immediately greeted by a floor-to-ceiling glass wall that offers a stunning view of the beautifully lit outdoor space. The carefully positioned lighting highlights the vibrant plantings and a serene water feature, creating a focal point that draws the eye and beckons guests back outdoors to enjoy the tranquil ambiance.
