A Gardener's Delight
This enchanting property in the Bryant neighborhood of NE Seattle, owned by the retired proprietor of Ravenna Gardens in the UW District, is a testament to exceptional design and meticulous care. While the property may not boast extensive acreage, it more than makes up for it with its beautifully curated plantings and thoughtful layout.
The main focus of our lighting design was to enhance the backyard for entertainment purposes. With such a diverse array of unique focal plants, we faced the delightful challenge of highlighting the beauty without overwhelming the space. To achieve this, we strategically placed a few uplights on various key plants, ensuring a harmonious flow of light throughout the backyard.
The photographs capture the essence of our design approach. Warm, ambient lighting accentuates the vibrant foliage and creates a welcoming atmosphere for evening gatherings. The uplights bring out the textures and colors of the plantings, transforming the garden into a magical retreat as the sun sets.
Our design carefully balanced the need for functional lighting with the desire to create an inviting and visually appealing outdoor space. Path lights were installed to guide guests through the garden safely, while accent lights were used to highlight specific features such as the sculptural plants and garden ornaments. The result is a cohesive lighting scheme that enhances the natural beauty of the garden while providing practical illumination for nighttime enjoyment.
This project showcases our commitment to creating custom lighting solutions that reflect the unique character of each property. By collaborating closely with the homeowner, we ensured that the lighting design complemented their vision and the garden's existing charm. The result is a beautifully illuminated backyard that invites relaxation and socializing, perfectly suited to the homeowner's lifestyle and love for gardening.

Privacy without Sacrifice
When fencing and screens are added to a property for privacy, they often create dark corners and uninviting walkways. To transform these areas, we employed a thoughtful lighting design by installing mini spotlights on the architectural screen and along the pathway to the backyard. These lights wash against the fencing, reflecting a soft, inviting glow that illuminates the walkway and highlights the hanging plants. Strategically positioned to enhance the architectural elements, the spotlights provide functional illumination, turning previously dark areas into welcoming highlights of the property.
Entertainer's Dream
With the many entertaining levels and stairs on this property, we chose our P9 path light for its precision and ability to direct light exactly where needed. The P9 path lights were strategically placed to illuminate the stairs and pathways, ensuring safe navigation while also highlighting key features. These fixtures create a beautifully lit environment that guides guests through the various entertaining spaces with ease.
To further enhance the ambiance, we mounted mini spotlights under the soffit. These spotlights were carefully aimed to showcase the fun and unique plantings on the tabletops, adding a touch of charm and highlighting the homeowner's personal style. The combined effect of the P9 path lights and mini spotlights creates a cohesive and inviting atmosphere, perfect for evening gatherings and entertaining.
A Feast for Sore Eyes
Our specially designed Hawkeye mini well lights, equipped with a shield to prevent glare, were meticulously core drilled into the pavers to highlight the stunning gabion walls. This precise placement ensures that the outdoor dining area is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Guests can enjoy the beautifully lit gardens and the ambient lighting without the discomfort of glare in their eyes, creating a perfect environment for relaxation and socializing.
